The Cody Conservation District and partners are actively looking for opportunities to identify projects and partnerships in the Sage Creek Watershed that help improve water quality in Sage Creek. Potential projects include irrigation and grazing improvements, streambank stabilization, and other conservation measures. The NWQI is a USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service funded program that assists landowners in implementing conservation practices to improve natural resource concerns. The Lower Sage Creek Watershed was selected for participation in the Program in 2021. A watershed assessment was completed for the project area in 2023, enabling the District and NRCS to begin accepting applications in FY24. Specific funding for grazing management improvements, irrigation improvements, streambank and riparian enhancement practices, and other conservation practices is expected to run 2024-2028.
